My “Uglies” Story

As you may know already, the Uglies series is one of my favorite series ever. (It’s by Scott Westerfeld – Check him out here: http://scottwesterfeld.com) Now, allow me to tell you the story of how I was reacquainted with the books.

Mariah’s “Uglies” Series Story

It all started last year, probably in late April or early May. I was in my school library, glancing around. As you may (or may not) know, my school library is absolutely TERRIBLE. The books are outdated and ripped. Only if there is nothing else on Earth may I give you permission to enter it’s doors. Well, I was in there (big surprise – yesterday was the first day I’d been in there since then!) and I just happened to see the spine of Uglies. I showed my friend, and told her I was going to check it out.

“No way,” she’d said, an amusing grin on her face. It was obvious she didn’t believe me, but she was wrong. I checked it out, and I was surprised how good it actually was! After I’d finished reading it, I checked out the entire rest of the series. I did all my book reports on the series, and by the time I’d finished reading the whole thing, the school year was already over.

Flash-forward to March 2014: I’d totally forgotten about the highly memorable series – instead I was catching up on Veronica Roth, John Green, and Marie Lu. I’d just finished publishing my post on TheCrazyBookshelf (my apologizing post, you can find it here: https://thecrazybookshelf.wordpress.com/2014/03/26/where-have-i-been/ ) when my iPod buzzed with an email. I lifted it up, opened my Mail app, and wasn’t too surprised when I got an email from iBooks, one of my favorite apps. I got emails from them a lot, so I clicked it. One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing that little red circle above the app in my home screen, so I tapped the email so it would be marked as “Read.”

I scrolled to the bottom of the email, and a headline caught my eye: “For Fans of Divergent.” I’m a fan of that book, so I checked the books listed under. And there it was – Uglies. I downloaded a sample and vowed myself that I’d check it out from the library. The very next day, I went back to my school library and pulled it off the shelf.

And that’s my story of how I got the book. Now I’m going to review it in just a few weeks. Thanks for reading my super-long story!

There we go. Italics are officially OFF! I’m so used to seeing them now xD

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I really love all of you ❤

New Books, My Time

Hey guys and girls 🙂 Me again. Just wanted to let you all know that I finished a new book today, Followers by Anna Davies (really short book, I recommend it!) and I also checked out Uglies and Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. I am super excited to start rereading those books, they’re some of my favorites. I also purchased the first Kingdom Keepers book on my iPod app called iBooks (check that out!), so be looking forward to new reviews, kay?

This is my first time on the internet today. Hopefully things aren’t going to be this busy in the future, but watch out in case I post a review pretty late. I’m trying to aim to post reviews about 6:00 or 6:30 Pacific Standard Time, but some days I might be busier than usual. Really sorry about that. I hope to see you guys tomorrow! 😀

20 Followers? OMG! & Updates

So, as of right now, I have 21 followers. How did I miss getting 20 followers in the first place?! That’s amazing! Thank you all for taking time to read my blog. It really means a lot to me, you know?

In honor of getting my first 20 followers, I’ve decided to create a GoodReads & Twitter account for The Crazy Bookshelf. I do currently have a GoodReads account but that’s a personal account, so . . . I’ll create an all-new one for you all 🙂 I really appreciate your support.

So, it’s time for some updates. I’ve just finished a few new books, so that’s going to be awesome, and I got three brand new ones today. Be looking forward to awesome reviews in April. The three books I did receive, unfortunately, are very small, but I got them because I was looking for a light read over Spring Break.

Additionally, I’m going to head over to my local library and pick up a series I read lightly last year but never really took the time to understand. If you are really curious, they’re part of the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. I’m super excited to reread those! I’ve also read some other good books, so be looking to see those reviews.

As for me, I’ve been doing fine. I keep telling you guys I’ve been having big problems and stuff but so far I’ve been doing okay. It’s really upsetting thinking about what happened in the past few weeks but I’m sure I’ll be able to get through it 🙂 Once again, I really appreciate all you guys and gals do for me.

I am TOTALLY  ready for Spring Break! Depending on how soon I finish books (and how long it takes me to write reviews, since my calendar’s TOTALLY backed up) be expecting a TON coming soon! A week or two afterward things might slow down a bit, because of testing, you know.

Alrighty then, so I think that’s just about it. I can’t wait for April because, you know, a new month means a new beginning! At least to me it does. I really love all of you and I really hope you enjoy my blog.

Be expecting more reviews coming soon!
